Last week, the king brought up the sarcastic test answers that got Matty expelled from school. I’m skipping to the next day. Matty and the king are discussing the meaning of “liberty.”
The first line below is Hadrian’s.
“‘Gentlemen may cry, peace, peace…is life so dear, or peace so sweet, as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery? Forbid it, Almighty God. I know not what course others may take, but as for me, give me liberty or give me death.’” Hadrian paused for a moment and added, “Patrick Henry said that.”
“Lose the coat and tie,” the king said while flicking his hand carelessly aside.
