As a mom with a full-time job, a 50 mile per day commute through road construction, and a novel in progress, I don’t have a whole lot of time to read. I tend to pick up books that I believe will interest me, and after thirty-three years of reading, I’ve gotten pretty good at judging books by their covers. Thus, a score below 4 will be very rare.
Note: Star ratings from any reader are subjective to their own preferences. Below, I will explain mine.
These books are ones that I gave five-star reviews to on Amazon and Goodreads, but also left me with a state of euphoria. If they were parts of a series, I wanted the follow up in my hands that instant. Series or not, I felt unwilling to read another book until the high had subsided.
These are books with engaging plots, but also great execution in writing. Nothing in the prose or narration stopped the action, allowing me to remain fully immersed.
These are books that I very much enjoyed, and would read again, despite something in the book stopping the action or pulling me out of the narration. If they are a part of a series, I look forward to their sequels.
